What does Trauma-Informed really mean?


“Trauma-informed” has become a bit of a buzzword lately — but what does it actually mean in real life and in healing spaces?


At its core, being trauma-informed means creating safety. It’s about understanding how trauma affects the body, mind, and nervous system — and making sure every part of the healing process honours that. In a trauma-informed healing space, nothing is rushed, forced, or pushed. There’s no expectation for you to “get over it” or to “move on.” Instead, it’s a gentle invitation to listen to your body and meet yourself with compassion — exactly where you are.
